Happy 2014!  As we begin a new year, we thought we would share with you events, program and Classic Town updates of interest.

New Classics for 2014

Please join  DVRPC in welcoming two new Classic Towns to the program: Cheltenham Township and Oxford Borough!  Be sure to view their webpages on www.classictowns.org

Upcoming workshops

Why wait for the business to come to you?  Take Measures to Create the Place for the Business! 

Join us at for the next SOS Roundtable on Tuesday, March 4 at 9:30 am at DVRPC. It will feature a discussion on cooperative businesses with speakers from the Green Street Artists Co-Op, Germantown and the CreekSide Co-Op in Elkins Park. New Classic Towns Website

DVRPC is working with our PR consultant, Paragraph Inc., on a new platform and design of the Classic Towns website.  Development is underway and we anticipate a March 2014 launch of the new website. Details will follow.

New Video Blog Feature

While the new website is under development, we are adding new features to the existing Classic Towns site.  In December, we published the first video blog, which features Collingswood, Kennett Square, and Haddon Heights.  Check it out at http://www.classictowns.org/about/classic-towns-times.  More video blogs will be produced, shot, and edited over the next 12-18 months. 

Classic Towns Evaluation

To help DVRPC better understand how the CT program has impacted our communities, we have developed an evaluation plan based on quantitative and qualitative factors.  We hope to have the analysis complete by the summer 2014.

Seminar: How to be an Expert Witness

Hosted by the American Planning Association's Southeastern Pennsylvania Section To be held at DVRPC offices January 31 from 8:00 am - 10:30 am This professional development session was designed to allow the planning professionals in our section to obtain an advanced understanding of expert witness testimony process. As professional planners gain experience, they are increasingly required to give testimony as a professional. Often planners have only limited experience in these types of legal proceedings. The purpose of this session is to help planners prepare for expert witness testimony.

Open Space Preservation Trust Fund


A $25,000 grant has been awarded to Merchantville. The grant will allow the

municipality to install an irrigation system, improve the landscaping and

repair the paver walkway in Morrissey Park.
